Age Is Just A Level: What My 64-Year-Old Client Taught Me About Horses and Internal Systems
One of my clients graduated yesterday.
She's 64, postmenopausal, an amateur rider who loves her horses.
We started working together six months ago with the goal of fat loss and increasing her energy.
She smashed her goal within 12 weeks and decided to continue for a full year so we could go through every season together.
The Real Work Wasn't What We Expected
She got her energy back within two weeks.
The deeper work was her habits - both for her physical health and her performance in the saddle.
When she started, her horse was distracted, wouldn't focus or stay with her.
By the time we finished, her horse responded to her aids.
The difference was her internal system.
When she became grounded, energized, clear, focused - her horse felt it immediately and mirrored it back.
What Her Family Noticed
Her family noticed too.
Every time she visited them, they commented on how young and strong she looked.
Age isn't a number.
Age is a level.
What determines how you look, feel, and how your horse responds to you is your internal system.
We rewired hers.
Developed stronger habits together with accountability.
And now she's ready to continue on her own.
The Gift of Seasonal Awareness
She reflected that autumn was one of the toughest periods for her - not because of anything external, but because of how the environment changes.
Daylight hours reduce.
The body recognizes this.
"What a gift," she said, "to have this awareness so I can prepare my body better next time."
Why This Work Matters
Helping someone feel younger at 64 brings me fulfilment and purpose.
And the best part?
Her horse is thanking her for it.
When your internal system is optimized - grounded, energized, clear - your horse feels it and responds differently.
That's what the December 22nd workshop is about: identifying the specific tension pattern you're carrying and learning the 5-minute exercise that releases it so your horse can feel the difference.
