The jockey described the horse as feeling like he was stuck in one gear. No matter how much he asked, the horse struggled to quicken or lengthen. Transitions between canter leads were awkward and the whole stride felt slightly flat through the back, as though the horse couldn’t quite organise his body underneath the saddle.
